Ingredients

  • 3 to 3 1/2 lb whole chicken
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup prepared barbecue sauce


methodology

1. Pat chicken dry with paper towel. Combine oil, chili powder, salt and pepper; rub all over chicken including inside cavity.

2. Manually set the CRUX 5.3 QT Digital Air Convection Fryer: Temperature 400˚F. Time: 60 minutes. Place chicken in air fryer basket, breast side down.

3. Cook chicken, turning breast side up halfway through cooking time, until golden brown and instant-read thermometer inserted into thickest part of inner thigh registers 165°F. Let stand for 15 minutes before slicing. Serve with barbecue sauce.

Tip:

  • For a quick dipping sauce, combine 1/3 cup barbecue sauce and 2/3 cup chicken broth; bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
